W.E. Cultural Connections: Bridging Cultures for a Unified Future
W.E. Cultural Connections is a workshop dedicated to fostering cross-cultural awareness and understanding between the East and the West. Our mission is to promote Chinese culture to the Western world through a variety of language programs, cultural workshops, videos, and blogs.
At the same time, we offer programs that introduce Western culture to Chinese audiences. We believe that the Western and Eastern worlds must come together to build mutual respect and understanding through language, culture, and open dialogue. By dismantling deep-rooted misunderstandings and addressing misconceptions born from misinformation or lack of communication, we aim to create a future where both cultures coexist harmoniously.
Our core belief is simple: only when the world unites as "WE" can a better future be possible for humanity. After all, we are all one.

Zhimin (Laurel)
Founder of WECC
Hi, I’m Zhimin, though I go by Laurel in the Western world. The name has come to represent more than just an identity—it reflects my journey and cultural evolution.
I have a diverse academic background, having earned degrees in both China and Australia. In China, I completed a Bachelor’s in ESL from Anhui Normal University and a Master’s in Chinese-English Interpreting from Nanjing University. Later, in Australia, I obtained a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Western Australia, an Honours in Psychology from Murdoch University, and a Master’s in Teaching from Edith Cowan University.
Throughout my career, I have worked as both a lecturer at universities and an interpreter in China and Australia for about 15 years. Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to studying cross-cultural communication, a field that has captivated me interest and given me insights on how language and culture shape our identities and experiences.
Personally, I’m deeply interested in spirituality, philosophy, and psychology—fields that help me better understand the human experience. I also enjoy watching movies, TV shows, and connecting with like-minded people. These moments allow me to reflect inward and nurture a deeper sense of connection.
